How to create a paypal qr code

Open your QR code generator, paste the URL or text below into the URL field, and click Create. The QR code is ready to download as a PNG. For best print quality, use at least 300 DPI when placing it in design software.

What does a PayPal QR code contain?

A PayPal QR code encodes your PayPal.me link. When scanned, PayPal's app or browser interface opens so the customer can complete a payment to you directly. They don't need your email address or account number - just the scan.

You can encode a fixed-amount PayPal link (e.g., paypal.me/yourname/15) for a set price, or a variable-amount link and let the payer enter the amount. Both work as standard QR codes.

When to use a PayPal QR code

PayPal QR vs. PayPal's built-in QR

PayPal has its own in-app QR code feature under "Send & Request." That built-in code is dynamic and managed by PayPal. It's convenient but requires both parties to have PayPal installed.

A QR code encoding your PayPal.me link works in any browser - the payer doesn't need the app installed. It's more flexible for print materials where you don't know whether customers have PayPal installed. For in-person transactions where both parties have the app, PayPal's native QR is simpler. For anything printed, use the PayPal.me URL approach.
